About Us

Welcome....This is the story of our family. As the parents of a 3-year old and an 12-year old we are on a non-stop journey through life that includes diapers, teething, soccer, and middle school. Believe it or not, the latter seems to be the most difficult.

6th Grade Camp

Well it's here, Rebekah is off to camp. I am so happy and so sad. She was up and ready to go before anyone this morning. One thing her dad learned today was that she packs just like her mom, you have to have everything just in case.

SOCCER WEEKEND!

What a weekend....from Saturday morning until Sunday evening we spent our time on the soccer fields. Rebekah's team who won their division this last December took on some pretty good teams this weekend. Rebekah remains the only goalie on the team (and probably in our division) who has not been scored on. We had shut-outs for all three of our scheduled games and although we played hard we lost our semi-final game last night, a little bittersweet the girls wanted to sweep the tournament but also by the time we finished our semi-final game they were ready to go home. We start indoor this coming weekend and then off to the State Cup! I never thought that we would become the very definition of a soccer family.

Enjoying some much needed rest at halftime.

Oh and by the way, you see that girl who stands a head taller than everyone else???? That would be Rebekah. Hmmmmmm... I wonder why she plays goalie.

Getting into position...

And Jacob just relaxing at Starbucks with mom and dad.

Proud Parents

We are so very proud of our children. Jacob is growing and learning every day an Rebekah is taking every chance she gets to learn and understand everything she comes in contact with. On Friday we were invited to her school for her "Celebration of Honors Students". Rebekah and her group did an analytical review of "The Magicians Nephew" with the theme of putting others before yourself. She is such a strong student that it makes me wonder what she will end up doing with her life. She also created the art work posted here. She is smart, creative and one of the most caring persons I know. Way to go Rebekah.

Bed Update & Camp Already!!!!!

Okay so it's been 3 days and I am slowing getting over the horrendous loss of the Seahawks. It was a good run and maybe next season will be better. Anyway off my football tangent.....back to the real news. Jacob has really taken to his new bed. Once we get him to stay in the bed, that alone is enough to wear anyone down, he actually does sleep in his bed and he even seems to be sleeping better than he was in the crib. Our nightly routine wears us all down. We START at 7:15 and he is usually in the bed and asleep by 8:30. So you may ask what takes all the time....well that would be us putting Jacob in his bed and then putting Jacob in his bed and then putting Jacob in his bed....well you get the idea. He thinks it's really amusing to get into bed, wait for us to leave the room and then get out of bed and start dancing around the room. As I said he thinks it's quite amusing and to tell you the truth it is very cute and both David and I have to keep ourselves from laughing when we go back into tuck him in for the 10th time. We'll survive......the next journey POTTY TRAINING!

6th Grade Camp
Sometimes I feel like it was just yesterday that I went to 6th grade camp. I remember having such a great time and I was lucky enough to have my big sister in the cabin next to me as a counselor. Well we are on the countdown to 1 week before Rebekah leaves for 6th grade camp and she is sooooooo excited that she's about to burst. We've gone shopping, we've begun packing and now she's just crossing days off the calendar.

What's This............A Big Boy Bed!

Well after denying the fact for many weeks, Jacob has officially grown out of his crib. Good news for him, not so good for us for now we have a toddler that is mobile at 5 am, or if he chooses the middle of the night. Lucky Us. Well we just couldn't resist getting him the cutest bed we could possibly find, and thank god for craigslist, so we didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for that special first BIG BOY BED!

Now what bed could be cuter........than a race car bed. And it is so fitting since one of Jacob's newest obsession is to play with his hot wheels and watch the Cars movie.

So we started by climbing in and out of the bed for a while, still sleeping in the crib. He was not quite ready to make the commitment the first two nights.

The next step was for Jacob to pretend to sleep in the bed. He did this for two days.
More pretending.........

Finally this morning before we left for daycare we said our goodbyes to the crib. We gave the crib a hug and a kiss, and when we came home the crib was gone. We took our afternoon nap there with only getting out of bed twice. We'll see what the first night in the bed holds for us.

Universal Studios Through New Years

Through the generosity of Grandma Sharlene and Grandpa Dave Rebekah and I were able to spend 2-days at Universal Studios with most of the rest of the family. We had such a great time. Rebekah, who is not a fast ride person, was a little apprehensive at first. When she realized that grandma rode most of the rides she felt much better and had a great time.....

This first picture is of Rebekah and Jacob at grandma's on Christmas day. I thought I would start by adding this wonderful moment.

Our day begins on Saturday the 29th, after a very long drive we arrive at Universal Studios in Hollywood.

Rebekah at Mel's Diner.

Rebekah with the shuttle from Apollo 13.

The one exhibit that Rebekah talked about for weeks before we went to Universal Studios was the "I Love Lucy" exhibit. The exhibit went through the entire Lucile Ball career. If you know anything about Rebekah then you know she absolutely LOVES Lucy. She spends her free time watching "I Love Lucy" videos and laughing like crazy. So at this point in the day she was in heaven.

One of the AMAZING scenes from Backdraft.

Leave it to Rebekah to find the one hint of Jewishness in Universal Studios.

Rebekah about to get soaked on Jurassic Park the Ride.

Anyone for a trip to Who-Ville?

How about a visit to the Bates Motel? (My favorite part of the whole day)

Spending time with the Simpson's in Springfield.

Kim taking a ride on the motorcycle from Terminator.

Rebekah spent some time in Paris.

Finally, what did we do on New Years Day? Well it began with us watching the Rose Bowl Parade, Jacob seems very comfortable doesn't he?

We rounded out our day with a game of football in the backyard, Jacobs idea of football is for him to throw it and one of us to retrieve the football for him.

Just one last picture of Jacob enjoying the time in the backyard. 2007 was a great year, our hopes for 2008 is health and joy for our family and friends.
